Educator Development
Individuals who work with young children and their families must have opportunities to nurture their curiosity and growth as professionals. We support early childhood educators and leaders in deepening content knowledge, learning new concepts and approaches, and applying these new skills to the workplace. This site includes events, resources, and tools to advance professionally. Information on how to access professional development opportunities can be found on the OEC Professional Development website.
Coaching and Mentoring
OEC provides and promotes education coaching and director mentoring to support providers’ continuous quality improvement efforts. CPP Lead Teachers are required to have access to regular coaching with an instructional/pedagogical leader with specialized knowledge in early childhood education. Programs may use an in-house coach, a contracted coach, or an OEC coach.
Director mentoring is another key component of continuous quality improvement. As such, CPP requires every program to have regular engagement with a Director Mentor or the OEC Program Quality Manager. OEC will contact programs in the fall to set the frequency and assignment of Director Mentors.
Click here for information on OEC’s Community of Practice (COP) and Professional Learning Community (PLC) groups. Information on how to access these groups can be found on the OEC Professional Development website.
Credentialing Pathways
Aligned with OEC’s mission to support the growth of the early care and education workforce, we will provide multiple pathways for CPP educators and administrators to meet qualification requirements: the Preschool CDA credential, Community College Certificates in Early Childhood, Child Development, and the Certificate in Early Education Leadership (CEEL) at Harvard University. Financial support is available through several scholarships and free course offerings, ensuring that all educators, from Assistant Teachers to Administrators, can access the resources needed to meet program standards.
